The Road From Science Fair to CEO

OTTAWA, ON – David Ross, CEO of Ross Video and Ottawa CEO of the Year, has accomplished a lot in his life but he holds his three high school national science fair medals among his greatest achievements. Ross just became the silver sponsor of the Ottawa Regional Science Fair.

As Ross says, “Many of the skills that I needed to become a CEO, I was first exposed to by being a youth in a science fair – from design to project management, to marketing and sales. This is my small way of encouraging future CEOs.”

The Ottawa Regional Science Fair (ORSF) is run by volunteers to encourage students in the Capital Region, from grades 7 to 12, to research, develop and present projects in the fields of science and engineering.

For 56 years, students have been entering projects that are judged in the junior, intermediate, senior, and special awards categories. The awards and prizes include cash awards and scholarships.

Rodney McInnis of the ORSF says, “It is clear to me that David Ross appreciates tomorrow’s high-tech work force can be strengthened by helping youth during their formative years discover their interests through such things as science fair participation.”

Like David Ross many of those students will move on to compete in the Canada Wide Science Fair. Last year, the ORSF sent 11 competitors to the nationals which earned them many awards and scholarships.

The fair will be held March 31st and April 1, 2017 at Carleton University’s Raven’s Nest and will feature more than 200 projects. For more information go to www.orsf.ca
