Ottawa Media Group wins 2017 Bootstrap Capital Award

OTTAWA, ON – Ottawa Media Group (OMG) is proud to announce their win in one of the categories of the upcoming 2017 Bootstrap Capital Awards to be held tomorrow evening at Marshes Golf Club. The award for fastest growing startup will be also announced at the award ceremony at 6:30pm as part of Wesley Clover’s regular Tech Tuesday event.

“It’s nice to be recognized for our work with our clients and in the community,” said Eric Collard, OMG co-founder. “It’s been an exciting three years and we can’t wait to see what the next three years and the next three decades holds for OMG.”

The Bootstrap Awards have returned after a three-year hiatus. The Ottawa Network collaborated with Wesley Clover and Smart & Biggar for the relaunch. The focus of the Bootstrap Awards is on working entrepreneurs who are doing it the hard way and finding innovative ways to build their businesses and products with limited investment.

“It’s always an honour to be acknowledged for our work and our philosophy that good businesses do good things in our community,” added Kimothy Walker, the other OMG co-founder. “It’s even more special when we get to share the honour with Punchtime, one of our clients.”

The awards were formerly held by Bruce Firestone’s Exploriem incubator where companies such as Shopify were discovered. The revamped awards recognize the National Capital Region’s best, self-financed startups. Other winners of the 2017 Bootstrap Awards include:

  • Best Mobile Application Award shared by: Punchtime & Bluin
  • Green Award: Spectrafy
  • Innovation Engineering & Technology Award: iBionics
  • Best Guerilla/Social Marketing Campaign: Grype
  • Community Impact Award: NuGrocery
