Amazing Pillow Fight coming to Ottawa area to raise funds for local charities
Ottawa, ON –CTV Ottawa’s Amazing People Gala team, in partnership with Accora Village and Ottawa Media Group, is proud to announce its second annual fundraiser in support of local charities SchoolBOX, Hera Mission, Project North, Miracle League and Ryan’s Well.
The next edition of the CTV Amazing People Gala is scheduled for fall 2015 and this new event will be in addition to the popular red carpet function.
On Thursday, September 10, 2015 the first annual Amazing Pillow Fight will happen at a yet-to-be-announced location live in the Ottawa area during the CTV News at 6pm. Hundreds of people will take part in keeping with the movement of fun pillow fights around the world, including in London (England), Chicago and at the Vatican.
“We are always looking for new ways to have a great time, bring people together and raise money for our charities,” says Kimothy Walker, the co-founder and Chair of the Gala. “After the flashmobs and singalongs, we were concerned we couldn’t top it…until now!”
The event will mark the beginning of Amazing People Gala season on CTV and the start of a new series of “Amazing People” as seen Thursdays during the CTV News at 6pm.
“Every year we love to honour these Amazing People to inspire more and more in the area,” added Eric Collard, Gala co-founder. “It’s always an emotional event where we see the best of our city and also heartbreak and struggles of truly amazing people who go on to help others.”
The Amazing Pillow Fight is open to anyone and will require a small fee to participate. All of the money will go to the charities supported by Ottawa Media Group. The local firm will be engaging its 20 associates and clients in showcasing the best Ottawa has to offer.
The CTV Amazing People Gala is a red-carpet event where winners are chosen and acknowledged during ceremonies on stage. To date the Gala has raised close to $150,000 for local charities, and in 2015 the organization hopes to bring the total to $300,000.
